Extensions FAQs

How long does the hair last?

Are extensions damaging to my hair?

Weft, tape-ins, and I-tips last for up to a year with proper care. K-tips, however, cannot be re-installed so removal & installation of new hair is required after 3-4 months.

Regardless of the method, when properly installed and maintained, extensions are not damaging and are made for long-term wear.

Will I be able to put my hair up?

Yes! With wefts, I-Tips & K-Tips you will be able to put your hair up right away. Tape-ins can be put in a low pony or bun but because of the adhesive tab at the top they can be awkward to put in a high pony or bun.

Will they hurt my scalp?

When installed correctly they do not hurt your scalp. If you have had this experience in the past they were more than likely not installed properly and safely. If you have a really sensitive scalp, you might be sensitive of the weight of the extra hair but it should not hurt your scalp. As with your natural hair, it's important to shampoo and rinse well to avoid product build up on the scalp to avoid any product irritation.

Will I be able to use hot tools on my hair?

Yes, you can use any form of heat (curling iron, blow dryer, flat-iron, deep waver, etc) on your extensions up to 350 degrees. However, a heat protectant is required (and provided!) to preserve the integrity of the extension hair.

Are the extensions made from real human hair?

All Bellami extensions are made from 100% remy human hair. This means that the cuticle on each hair strand is facing the same way just as it does in our natural hair. In addition, the hair is sourced from around the world from people who choose to sell their hair to Bellami. This means that it is ethically sourced and offers a range of natural colors so that the light blondes don't require extensive color processing, resulting in healthier extensions to begin with.

How often can I wash my hair?

It's best to only wash your hair 1-2 times per week using the hair care included in your extension package to best preserve the integrity of the hair. And you'll save lots of time only having to wash your hair a couple times a week! Directly after installation, wefts & I-Tips can be washed immediately and K-Tips & Tape-Ins need 48 hours before shampooing to ensure the bonds are fully set.

Can I swim, exercise or go in the sauna?

Yes you can do all of the above but it is recommended to apply and leave in a deep conditioner before swimming to nourish the hair and avoid the hair absorbing chlorine and minerals which are harmful to the extension hair. Dirt and sweat build-up causes the extensions to tangle so make sure you wear your hair in braids or a ponytail while exercising or relaxing in a sauna. It is best to wash your hair after exercising to remove the sweat and oils that can make the beads slip.

Can I remove my extensions?

No, your extensions can only be removed by your extension specialist. These extensions are meant for long term wear and you wash, sleep, and style your hair with the extensions installed.
